Secondary Summer Boost Opportunities
Boost Opportunities for Science and Math courses will be offered during Summer 2026. Boosts are online preparation designed to build the skills necessary for success in the courses' students plan to take during the 2026-2027 school year.
Students will join Boost opportunities through the links provided below. Each Course has a link to a slide deck that containing 25 task for students to complete. In addition, there is a link below each slide deck that will take you to an answer key and provides an explanation of how to solve each task.
Math
Audience: Rising 6th Grade Students enrolled in Math 6 for Fall 2026
Rising 6th grade students will develop a deeper understanding of core mathematical concepts from fifth grade. The tasks are intended to minimize students’ loss of proficiency or improve proficiency of key 5th grade mathematical concepts. Students will explore fraction and decimal operations, order of operation, parts of a circle, transformations, number patterns, the Fundamental Counting Principle and algebraic equations.
This program consists of 25 tasks. The slide decks are not moderated and are to be completed independently; however, all work is self-checking and students can progress through the tasks at their own pace.
Students do not earn a grade for this program as it is intended to allow students to build confidence in math content, skills and practices commonly taught in Math 6 and applied in Math 7.
Audience: Rising 7th Grade Students enrolled in Math 7 for Fall 2026
Rising 7th grade students will develop a deeper understanding of core mathematical concepts from sixth grade. The tasks are intended to help minimize students‘ loss of proficiency or improve proficiency of key 6th grade mathematical concepts. Students will explore comparing and ordering rational numbers, fraction and decimal operations, integer operations, order of operations, the Coordinate Plane, circle graphs, measure of center, proportional reasoning and algebraic equations/inequalities.
